mastRcam SC - TruVu Monitor Color Calibration

mastRcam SC - TruVu Monitor Color Calibration

The following steps detail how to perform a basic color calibrations on TruVu monitors. It’s important to note that every customer site will not be exactly the same and definitely not with the same lighting, so the following steps are more of a basic way to calibrate the monitors so the colors will match up closely between the UMR and the TruVu monitor.

Turn On Color Bars
  1. On the UMR-20, press the [USER 1} button to bring up the color bars.
    1. If this doesn't work, you can select [MENU] and go to Disp Setup. On page 2 of that menu, you can turn Color Bars to “On”. Then go back to the menu and go to Output Setup. Check the SDI MODE SEL to “Normal”
  2. You should now see the color bars on both the UMR and TruVu. Depending on the settings on the TruVu, your color bars will look similar to the image below:

TruVu Monitor Settings
  1. Press the [MENU] button on the monitor and open the Video menu. This is where we will adjust Contrast and Brightness for the monitor.
  2. Set the Contrast all the way up to 255.
  3. Now, adjust the Brightness (up or down) while observing the Pluge. What we want to do is mostly blend the two leftmost bars of the Pluge. It should look like the image below:
  4. Now go back and bring down the Contrast until the rightmost bar of the Pluge is slightly visible. It should look like the image below:
  5. Then go back to the UMR and remove the color bars and don’t forget to set the SDI MODE SEL option back to “Through” (If you changed it when displaying color bars). Check your image and compare to the image showing on the UMR. It should be very close, but make any slight tweaks as needed to the Saturation level.
  6. For monitors that are on mastRcams and exposed to a lot of sunlight, you may need to raise the Brightness again to make it easier to see, but keep the Contrast the same value you set it at from Step 4.
