mastRcam (Before Practice) - Raise Mast

Now you are ready to raise the mast. Again, make sure there are no obstructions above the mastRcam that the mast could hit and that the trailer is properly secured with the stabilizer legs.

To the left of the mast, there is a valve that allows you to raise, lower, or stop the mast. This is the Mast Control Valve.

• Turn the valve to “Raise” to turn on the compressor which will pump air into the mast to raise it. The compressor will automatically turn off after the mast has been fully extended and pressured. It takes approximately 2 minutes to fully raise the mast and then another 4-5 minutes to fully pressurize.
o As the mast raises, make sure neither the umbilical or guy ropes get caught on anything or damage could occur.
• Turn the valve to “Lower” to begin releasing air from the mast which will start lowering. As the mast lowers, the umbilical should coil into its umbilical basket, but you’ll want to watch it to make sure it doesn’t get caught on anything.
• Turn the valve to “Stop” to keep the mast from raising or lowering. The compressor will continue to run until the mast is pressurized but the mast will mostly stay at its current height (It may raise up a little bit more after turning the valve to “Stop”). This is useful if you don’t need the mast to go up all the way.
